{"id":1394,"date":"2019-05-28T16:01:15","date_gmt":"2019-05-28T14:01:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.effe-homecare.eu\/?p=1394"},"modified":"2020-03-11T10:40:01","modified_gmt":"2020-03-11T09:40:01","slug":"home-care-services-a-way-to-tackle-dependency-in-europe-we-cannot-deal-without","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.effe-homecare.eu\/en\/home-care-services-a-way-to-tackle-dependency-in-europe-we-cannot-deal-without\/","title":{"rendered":"Home care services \u2013 a way to tackle dependency in Europe we cannot deal without"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>The European Federation for Family Employment (EFFE) associated with the French <\/strong><em><strong>Fondation du Domicile<\/strong><\/em><strong> praise the proposals brought together by the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) to put private homes forward within the related housing and ageing policies.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Considering that people aged 65 and over will make up for almost a\nquarter of the whole European population by year 2035, and those aged 80 and\nover should be more than doubled by 2080, it is an absolute urgency to launch\nan ambitious policy set able to tackle the increasing need for private care for\nthe elderly and the dependent \u2013 and all this with considerate respect to every\nindividual\u2019s choice, as in-home care facilities are growingly demanded by the\nelderly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In their recommendation \u201c<em>Economic,\ntechnologic and social evolution of advanced elderly healthcare services<\/em>\u201d\nthe EESC claims its belief that a \u201c<em>reasonable\nand efficient<\/em>\u201d housing policy regarding healthcare amenities should be\nadvantaged and advocated for instead of a too traditional and binary \u201cprivate\nhome \u2013 retirement home\u201d logic. The Committee especially recommends that housing\nand ageing policies merge with innovative housing solutions \u2013 such as modular,\ncollective or cross-generational housing units. These should \u201c<em>be granted a much focused attention as well\nas a dedicated European structural funds support\u201d<\/em>, the EESC said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>EFFE, a dedicated stakeholder committed to the evolution of private home\ncare services in Europe, associated with the <em>Fondation du Domicile<\/em>, a think-tank on the latest private housing\nusing customs in France, speak up for these recommendations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c<em>The most relevant solutions to\ntackle dependency issues are to be found precisely in private homes<\/em>\u201d Mrs\nMarie B\u00e9atrice LEVAUX, President of EFFE, said. \u201c<em>We do know that remaining at home while being taken care of is a\nsignificant asset to fighting loss of autonomy and elder people\u2019s isolation.\nThere is also an economic challenge as national States will not be able to\nsustain the cost of such an increase of retirement homes\u2019 occupancy rate in the\nnext decades. Precisely to formulate a response to all of these issues have we\nbrought forward our European White Paper \u201cHome, Family Employment and Homecare\nin the EU\u201d with a broad range of political and civil society actors, which\nsubmits 10 substantiated proposals to structure home employment and tackle\ndemographic stakes EU-wide<\/em>\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To develop this care model automatically induced to foster an ambitious\nprivate employers\u2019 support policy, either financially supporting older employer\nhouseholds so that any elder can get an access to those services, creating a\ndomestic worker status or supporting vocational training so as to secure the\ncontractual relationship between worker and employer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cThe wish to merge ageing and in-home care treatments responds to a growing popular demand to take part both to the citizen life but also to actively contribute to one\u2019s own ageing process. It must therefore be at the very heart of dedicated ageing policies<\/em>\u201d, Fondation du Domicile\u2019s General Delegate Charlotte BRIERRE said. \u201c<em>We must take advantage of new domestic uses in order to find relevant solutions to dependency issues \u2013 be it an inclusive, cross-generational or common housing, with increasingly digitalized or A.I.-connected facilities.
